The Animal Feed Production Company (ÁTEV) was founded by the National Stateaid Agency on July 1st 1949  for the collection and disposal of animal by-products generated in Hungary. 

The state company which was founded in 1949 changed into stock company in 30th of September 1993 – still owned by the state 100 % with 878 million HUF share capital.

According to the requirements of the Act on Economic Companies no. IV. 2006 - the present name of the company is ATEV Rendering Closed Joint Stock Company (ATEV Zrt). The propriatory right of the state has been wielded by MNV Zrt. since July 1st 2008.

The rendering plants of the company have been improved since 1950 which is going on at present days as well.

There have been marginal changes in the operation of the company since Hungary joined the EU.  According to the European legislations animal by-products have been categoarized into three categories by our national legislation as well – in the view of potentional infectiousness, treatment and the usage of products made of animal by-products. 

In order to this categorization the company had to solve the selective collection and treatment of animal by-products of different origin. To fulfill these new requirements  the transportation system was reorganized and the exact sites were specialized for the treatment of animal by-products of different origin. 

Accordingly Category 1 and 2 animal by-products  are treated at the sites of  Solt and Debrecen. Category 3 animal by-products for petfood purposes are treated at Hódmezővásárhely, Mátyásdomb and Bőny. Category 3 fat is used for fat powder production at Szolnok. The other sites (excluded Győr, Tököl, Battonya) are operating as collection points.

More than 400 persons work at ATEV Zrt.
